Coach Greg "Stormy" Stornello

My passion for coaching and goalie instructions began when I was a teenager and I was attending many local and out of state camps. Some of these camps included Midwest Goalie School, Great Saves and Midwest Elite. I grew up playing Youth Hockey in Illinois and went on to play Junior Hockey both local and out of state.

History

• Over 25 years of playing/coaching experience.
• Overseeing the development of goalies in local Youth Hockey Clubs.
• I have instructed and helped develop goalies at all playing levels, i.e., pre-hockey, Tier I, Tier II, High School, Juniors and College.

Currently

• Hockey Director / Goalie Director for the Jaguar Hockey Club.
• Goalie Coach for the the Junior Blackhawk Brick Team.
• Goalie Coach for the Chicago Mission at the 1999 and 2000 and 2001 Birth Levels. Including incoming 2002 goalies.
• Goalie Instructor for Selects and Bauer Selects camps and clinic's.
• Currently working with goalies at College and Junior Levels.
• Currently working with local high school level goaltenders.

Stormy Hockey provides premier instruction and mentoring to goaltenders of all ages. The Stormy Hockey Camps provide a low student/instructor ratio to create a dynamic enviornment propelling students to take their game to the next level on and off the ice.

Goaltending is more than just stopping pucks.  Stormy Hockey will teach and drill the physical skills related to goaltending such as the butterfly, half buterflys, power pushes, shuffles, transitions, recovery, stick skills, etc., along with the mental skill such as save selections, "Reading the play," angles, situational analysis, focus, etc.

There is no subsitute for hard work. Coach Stormy works the goalies really hard. But, he also believes in having FUN...LOTS of FUN.  Humor is a major part of the teaching process. The goalies work together as a "team" during any private, camp or clinic. Coach Stormy does a significant amount of teaching the goaltenders on a individual basis during each camp.

I Believe that while each goaltender is unique in their techique.  They all have a common need for technical development, consentration, strength, flexability, mental toughness and control of game situations on and off the ice.

• Semi Private or Private Lessons Available.
• Lesson are limited to two goalies per hour.
• Lessons are open from House Level though the most Elite Level Goaltender.

Lessons:

$40 for a Half Hour one Goalie with Instructor.

$50 per hour per goalie for two goalies with Instructor.
