ADM Cross Ice Hockey

WHY CROSS ICE AND THE ADM?

In other sports like soccer, and baseball the playing area is scaled down to fit youngsters 5 thru 8 year olds.  In hockey we dont have that.  We expect the kids to skate the full ice 200 x 85.  This limits their puck touches and small area skill developement.

The Jaguar cross ice program promotes skill developement and fun!

A score should never be kept either by a score keeper or a coach. The pupose is not who wins by goals scored but to encourage the kids to develope their individual skills as well as team play, skating, passing, shooting, defending and most of all having fun!!

The goal of using the ADM is to keep the kids in the game by teaching them the skills they'll need to maximize success in the game in the future at an early age in a fun environment. The goal is to also prevent the youths from suffering burnout from excessive competition at an early age as studies have shown a significant dropoff in the number of Mite-aged players sticking with the game by the time they reach 12 or 13 years old, according to USA Hockey.

The ADM also encourages the kids to play multiple sports and not just specialize in one to aid in their overall athletic and muscle development.

It should be noted that since hockey is a game of stops and starts (in quick, short explosive bursts), the change from full to cross shouldn't affect on-ice stamina. Stamina has nothing to do with being able to skate a full lap around the rink, it's about skating hard for 30-40 seconds during a shift, something the kids -- in theory -- should be able to do more of in the cross-ice.

The Jaguar In-House Hockey Program is designed following the American Development Model.

The American Development Model (ADM) provides age-appropriate guidelines and curriculum to hockey accociations across America to help more kids play, love and excel in hockey.  The ADM is brought to you by USA Hockey, in partnership with the NHL.  Learn more at http://www.admkids.com.

After skaters complete the Jaguar Minor Hawk and Pre-Hockey programs, they then graduation into Jaguar In-House play.  This developmental league allows skaters multiple puck touches as they learn basic skills that they will use the rest of their hockey careers.  This three-day a week program includes skills, practices, and games.

Half ice and cross ice games will consist of a 3:00 minute warm-up, 3-15 minute runing clock periods, and 2-2:00 minute breaks between periods.

Jaguar Fall House (ADM)

The Jaguar In-House Program is the first step in the Jaguar Hockey Club Development program. The Jaguar In-House program is designed to transition the Pre-Hockey skater to Travel or Travel House team play. Your skater will begin to apply the basic hockey skills learned previously into a game environment.

Join Coach Jerry Fronek as he uses American Development Model (ADM) principals to teach our in-house skaters.  Levels include Minor 6U (6 and under), Minor 8U (8 and under), and Major (9 and up).

The Jaguar Hockey Club realizes that each in-house skater has a different committment level.  So, we are offering a base in-house schedule and then an ala cart of options to fit to your skaters needs.
