THE FOLLOWING ARTICLE WAS POSTED TO THE JAGUAR WEBSITE ON AUGUST 3, 2012, IN TRIBUTE TO JIMMY PORTER. THE JAGUARS STILL HONOR JIMMY WITH A BANNER HANGING IN THE RINK AT INWOOD ICE ARENA, AS WELL AS A ANNUAL MEMORIAL GAME AND THE AWARDING OF ANNUAL HOCKEY SCHOLARSHIPS IN HIS NAME.

 

The Jaguars have lost a player and a friend yesterday, Jimmy Porter. The Club is planning a memorial game in Jimmy's honor. Once the details are decided the information will be forwarded to the membership.

Below is the information for the services, please wear your Jaguar Jersey for Jimmy. He will be deeply missed.

James Rex Porter III
(Died August 1, 2012)

Age 15, of Joliet, in God’s plan, passed away peacefully in his sleep on August 1, 2012. He was starting his sophomore year at Joliet West High School. Played for his beloved Joliet Jaguars Hockey Team, hockey was his passion, he started skating when he was 3 years old. An avid hockey and Blackhawks fan. He loved his mom and dad so much, and was a great son, brother and nephew. Everyone said he had the world’s biggest smile, never had an enemy, made everyone laugh instantly, was the light of the room from birth and was a great listener and supporter. Survived by his parents Gordon (Kari) Porter, and Dawn (Gary) Prusinski; his sister Kelsey Porter; three step-brothers Joseph Prusinski, Tyler Heather and Dakotah Hebler; his step-sister Savannah Schultz; his grandparents Gloria (Larry Casper) Mickulas, Mary E. Williams and Edward J. (Donna) Mickulas; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins, he was loved by all. Funeral services Monday, August 6, 2012, 10 a.m. at the Markiewicz Funeral Home, P.C., 108 Illinois St. Lemont. Interment Calvary Cemetery, Lockport. Visitation Sunday 2 – 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the family for future memorials.
